Charlie Thomas, one of the original founders of CACEO, passed away of a massive heart attack Wednesday, August 29, 2007.

Charlie was a dear, beloved friend of many people, but especially of those members who served with him on the Board of Directors of the prior CACEO and CACE. Charlie served very capably as our Treasurer on these organizations that preceded the current CACEO.

Charlie worked for the City of San Mateo for over 7 years as a code enforcement officer until his retirement from the profession in 1998. After his retirement, he continued to serve as the CACE and CACEO Treasurer, for another 8 years.

Charlie had a degree in accounting, loved to travel, golf, hit golf balls at Mike Reynolds, and be with friends. In addition to Code Enforcement, his calling was to help seriously injured or ill children through his affiliation in the Shriners. He was a musician and played in the Shriner band for many years.

Charlie was a great gentleman and a rock of stability during his years serving as a volunteer for the betterment of our profession. He added a quiet, assuring voice during many turbulent times in the formation of this great organization we call CACEO. Charlie loved the code enforcement profession and enjoyed the challenges of being on the Board of Directors.
