Thanks for your patience during this transition!

Although it seems that this Legislative Session has been exceptionally active for CACEO's involvement, now is the time when certain bills require in depth attention, either by letters of support or opposition or by testifying before the legislature itself or its subcommittees.

On June 11, 2018, CACEO, in collaboration with the California League of Cities, sent a letter to Assemblyman Chad Mayes opposing AB 2495,.  Members of CACEO will be attending the hearing taking place on June 19, 2018 to voice opposition to it.  After reading the opposition letter linked above, CACEO urges all California jurisdictions to send representatives to the hearing to add their opposition.

On June 12, 2018, CACEO submitted a letter to Senator Mike McGuire with its formal support of these important code enforcement and substandard housing bills (SB 1415 and SB 1416), and encourage all jurisdictions to submit support for them as well.

CACEO is also opposing AB 2485, unless amended.

CACEO members as well as lobbyists for jurisdictions testified in opposed to AB2485.  The bill passed the Public Safety Committee and is now in Senate Appropriations and, if passed by the Senate, will go to the Governor.  CACEO will continue to oppose this bill.
